Sea of Thieves Passes 10 Million Players

It’s been announced by Rare and Microsoft that Sea of Thieves has now been played by more than ten million players, making it the most successful new IP from Xbox this generation.

The 10 million players have been drawn from over eighty different countries worldwide, with the game being available on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.  The game can be played on both formats with the Play Anywhere feature and is free to play for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

To celebrate the milestone, there will be two limited edition gifts for players in the forthcoming update.  Landing on January 15, ‘Legends of the Sea’ is a free update, and to claim a free custom sail and special new emote, players just have to log into the game between January 15 and 22.

The games developers claim Sea of Thieves offers the essential pirate experience, from sailing and fighting to exploring and looting – everything you need to live the pirate life and become a legend in your own right. With no set roles, you have complete freedom to approach the world, and other players, however you choose.
